About The Position

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing, auditing and balancing the semi-monthly payroll process for Executive Payroll and monthly Long Term Disability payroll.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure payroll conformance by consistently applying Company policies and government regulations to payroll processing and time reporting.
  • Update and maintain employee federal, state and city tax information, direct deposit information, deductions, garnishments, earnings and tax balance information.
  • Ensure compliance with garnishment orders and tuition reimbursement.
  • Research and resolve questions and problems in Payroll administration as well as assisting users with time entry in TRIS (Ameren's Time Reporting Information System), payroll related policies, timekeeping policies and certain federal, state and city compliance.
  • Execute various exception and pay or time reporting history reports. Provide payroll data for subpoenas, internal departments and external agencies. Serve as a corporate subject matter expert (SME) on various initiatives related to payroll functions.
  • Participate in special projects such as Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery exercises, SOX and other audits, and system upgrades and testing.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly and year-end tax balancing, including the annual W-2 process.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and administering payroll policies and procedures.
  • Recommend continuous improvements pertaining to Payroll operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, HR or related field required. Three or more years of experience in automated payroll systems or equivalent office administration (i.e. payroll processing, report analysis, time reporting systems, human capital management systems) required. Seven or more years of experience in automated payroll systems or equivalent office administration (i.e. payroll processing, report analysis, time reporting systems, human capital management systems) required in lieu of a degree.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Ability to analyze and evaluate complex Payroll and time reporting data required. Skills with data entry, attention to detail, confidentiality, thoroughness, general math, and verbal communication required. Organizational skills required. Proficiency in Excel and Word required. Working knowledge of TRIS or other time reporting system as well as PeopleSoft, Workday or other human capital management system preferred. Ability to work in a highly confidential office environment is required. Ability to work off-hours for project needs, support, upgrade and systems conversions and implementation, as needed, is required.
