As a Manual Machinist, you will run manual machines, including conventional open face lathes, Bridgeport mills, grinders, drill presses and other shop equipment, to recreate parts made-to-order, replace parts of machinery, or perform cleaning and preventative maintenance on those specialized machines in the shop. You perform the set-up, adjustments, and operation of manual machinery. You will interface with the design team or other engineers and the customer to make sure all specifications are being met. Primary hours for this role will be 7am to 3:30pm, Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities:
  • Run manual machines including conventional open face lathes, Bridgeport mills, grinders, drill presses and other shop equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is effectively utilized to efficiently accomplish all work.
  • Complete shop orders with the highest quality standard.
  • Interpret job specification blueprints and job orders to determine machine adjustment and material requirements; will work from drawings and manufacturing routers to produce parts in accordance with specifications.
  • Ensure daily production data, labor and quality recording is accurately compiled and reported daily.
  • Continuously improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Perform deburring operations on machined parts.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Performs complete preventative maintenance of machines.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety requirements.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Qualifications:
  • The ability to set up and operate manual lathe and Bridgeport mills is required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years related experience and/or training.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawing or other specification and work in 10th of thousands.
  • Ability to machine various materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless, and specialty alloys.
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gage, electronic gages as well as hard go/no go gauging.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical processes to execute machine settings and corrective actions.
Bonus Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of PC and ability to use Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, & Outlook) and help other with these tasks
  • Experience using Hoist and Cranes
  • Ability to work on electrical components
  • Knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Systems and Programs
