SummaryThis position will be responsible for designing and analyzing complex mechanical and robotic systems with requirements driven by sound project management practices. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work to conceptualize, design, rapid prototype, and produce new equipment for the truss manufacturing industry. In this position you will work on robust machinery design that helps customers improve their production output.

Job Responsibilities & RequirementsRESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products with focus on New Product Development (NPD) in the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry

  • Lead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automation

  • Generate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.)

  • Carry designs through staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)

  • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause/corrective actions

  • Design/integrate/test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practices

  • Design/integrate/test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems

  • Design/integrate/test industrial electro-mechanical and robotic systems

  • Develop/maintain project documentation (i.e.system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)

  • Develop and publish new standardized processes and procedures that affect engineering organization

  • Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery

  • Perform engineering analysis/calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis)

  • Enter new/update existing data in MRP/ERP system

  • Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service Organizations throughout a product's lifecycle

  • Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies

  • Mentor less experienced Mechanical Engineers and Designers

  • Some travel required (up to 10% during critical on-site activities)

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university

  • 7+ years of related working experience

  • Strong understanding of strength of materials, statics, & dynamics

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, and AutoCAD Mechanical

  • Proficiency in machining and welding symbols with experience in GD&T analysis

  • Proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Experience in the utilization of vision systems & robotics

  • Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems

  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team

  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines

  • Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills

  • Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stake holders
