This opportunity is in the Claims Department.

Our Claims department oversees both high-exposure workers' compensation and liability claims. As an unbundled carrier, we work actively with third-party administrators (TPAs) and self-administered accounts to assist in guiding claims to a successful resolution. As an excess and large deductible carrier, the high exposure claims we handle keep our group challenged, but the uniqueness provides plenty of growth opportunities.

Role Description:

In the role of Senior Liability Claims Manager, you will be Responsible for handling assigned claims from initial assignment to closure as well as provide assistance in various administrative functions associated with the liability lines of business such as Automobile Liability, General Liability, Employers Liability, Public Entity (Professional Liability), Cyber, Excess, Umbrella, and Construction Liability. By representing Safety National and managing intricate insurance claims responsibly and ethically, your impact will be felt throughout the organization.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Senior Liability Claims Manager will include:

  • Managing and evaluating high exposure litigation, including tactical guidance, case management and budgeting.
  • Conducting thorough coverage review and determination; evaluating exposure to the Company.
  • Establishing and maintain timely expense and indemnity reserves based on department procedures.
  • Proactively maintaining ongoing case evaluations and litigation management, including the selection and monitoring of counsel in accordance with department litigation guidelines; directing and advising Third Party Administrator (TPA) regarding claim handling and reporting.
  • Identifying cost-effective resolution strategies; directly or indirectly negotiate claim settlements within established authority level with direct reporting to supervisor on settlements over authority limits.
  • Coordinating with the Workers' Compensation Claims Managers the handling of Employer Liability claims.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree for accredited college or university required. JD preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of active litigation or adjusting higher exposure, complex Automobile Liability, General Liability, Employers Liability, Public Entity, Cyber, Excess, Umbrella, Umbrella and/or Construction Liability claims.
  • Experience with all phases of claims litigation from inception through post judgment preferred, including complex mediations, settlement conferences and trials.
  • Experience analyzing coverage issues and drafting reservation of rights and coverage letters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in multiple jurisdictions with an insurance carrier or Third Party Administrator.
  • AIC, SCLA, or CLCS Designations

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
