Role Description:

In the role of Coverage Counsel I, you will be part of a team that provides strategic advice and guidance related to Liability and Workers' Compensation claims coverage issues and coverage litigation in support of a growing Claims organization.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Coverage Counsel I will include:

  • Researching and drafting coverage analyses to support the Claims organization
  • Supporting Claims on coverage issues, including those related to commercial general liability, public entity, law enforcement liability, commercial auto, employers' liability, workers compensation, excess workers compensation, cyber and construction
  • Working closely with internal business partners to provide strategic and proactive legal advice on coverage matters, including but not limited to understanding, interpreting and applying current law and regulations across multiple jurisdictions
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and outside counsel, as needed

The ideal candidate is someone who has:

  • Experience with commercial general liability, public entity, commercial auto, and workers compensation insurance products
  • Fluency in translating legal advice into actionable guidance for business teams
  • Sharp analytical and communication skills, and a diligent, proactive and collaborative approach having shown balanced legal and business judgment and strategic thinking
  • Ability to prioritize high-volume workload and manage several large projects simultaneously with minimal supervision

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Must have a J.D. from an accredited law school

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 - 5 years minimum of insurance coverage experience
  • Must be currently licensed to practice law in at least one state
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks with a proven record of producing excellent work product
  • Demonstrated understanding of the insurance industry and insurance operations

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
