Sewing Support Associate

NORMAL SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

OVERTIME: May be required during peak seasons; shift lengths may increase to 9-10 hours M-F and/or occasional Saturday shifts

PAY FREQUENCY: Weekly

SALARY: Starting at $16.25, depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY

The Sewing Support Associate is primarily focused on providing support and resources to our sewers by maintaining organization and order in the workspace, expediting the workflow, collaborating with the sewing team and supervisors, and swiftly moving finished products from the tables to storage areas, ensuring they're readily accessible for future orders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or sewing environment preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with basic sewing machine operations is advantageous.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and follow sew notes and work instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent organizational skills to ensure efficient workflow and prevent pile-up of completed work.
  • Basic understanding of sewing machine maintenance and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills to interact with sewing machine operators and supervisors.
  • Physical dexterity and stamina to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance, arriving on time and prepared for all shifts, meetings, and appointments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS, AND BEHAVIORS include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Accurately perform measurements using tape measure and /or rulers
  • Prep and support sewing team by performing basic tasks such as clipping threads, notching zippers, turning covers, stapling, tagging, folding covers, etc.
  • Inspect completed work for quality assurance and make necessary adjustments as required.
  • Ensure sewing machine operators have work available and that completed work does not pile up.
  • Follow all sew notes and work instructions accurately to meet production requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with sewing machine operators and supervisors regarding workflow and any issues that arise.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to perform other positions as necessary within in department and other departments
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times.

Physical Demands:

The essential functions of this job require the employee to perform the following physical activities:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting and carrying materials or equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching
  • Manual dexterity for manipulating sewing machine components and materials

Work Environment:

The Sewing Support Associate typically works in a manufacturing environment. The job may involve exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental factors associated with a manufacturing setting. The role requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
