As we continue to expand our Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Observability and Monitoring Technical Architect to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of our cloud services through effective observability and monitoring solutions.

Job Responsibilities & RequirementsRole and Responsibilities:

As the Observability and Monitoring Technical Architect, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and maintaining observability and monitoring standards for our commercial cloud services.

What You Will Do:
  • Observability Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive observability and monitoring strategy for our cloud services, focusing on real user monitoring (RUM), synthetic transaction monitoring (STM), and traditional cloud infrastructure monitoring.

  • Solution Design and Implementation: Design, configure, implement, and maintain observability solutions to monitor and troubleshoot systems and applications in the cloud environment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, development, and operations, to identify potential issues, provide innovative insights, and optimize system performance, stability, and availability.

  • Automation and Remediation: Develop and implement automation solutions for alerting and remediation processes to reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR) and enhance system uptime.

  • Expert Knowledge: Maintain expert-level knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in observability and monitoring, including RUM, STM, and cloud infrastructure monitoring, to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Roadmap Development: Define and maintain an observability roadmap for commercial-facing services hosted on the cloud, aligning with business objectives and customer needs.

  • Monitoring Services: Monitor application performance, compute and network infrastructure metrics, and identify patterns and trends to improve system performance and reliability.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in an observability engineering role, with a focus on monitoring solutions in cloud environments.

  • Extensive expertise in designing, configuring, and implementing observability solutions, including real user monitoring (RUM) and synthetic transaction monitoring (STM).

  • Strong understanding of traditional cloud infrastructure monitoring tools and techniques.

  • Proven experience in developing and executing observability and monitoring strategies and roadmaps.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals // AZ-900 - Required within 90-Days of Hire

  • Linux+ Certification - Preferred

  • Relevant Observability Certifications Preferred (Ex: Dynatrace Associate Certification, Datadog Fundamentals Certification, New Relic Observability Practitioner, etc...)

Additional Requirements- 10% Travel will be limited and planned well in advance. Travel may require overnight stays and may travel Internationally as demand requires.

Soft Skills
Must be self-motivated, team oriented and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate should possess strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to problem solve. Strong sense of urgency and strong commitment to quality customer service is required. Ability to analyze and interpret data (metrics) to improve the delivery and support of services to our customers.
