Job Summary

Nidec Motion and Drives is a business unit within Nidec Motor Company specializing in the design and manufacturing of standard and custom brushless DC motors, AC and DC servo motors, frameless motors, and brushed PMDC motors, to name a few. Job Description

Responsibilities:

The Motion Control Engineering division of Nidec is looking for an Engineering leader for the North America servo motor platform. Coordinate engineering activities associated with the design, development and production launch of servo motors and servo motor platforms. Person in this role will interface directly with Nidec engineering, quality, procurement and operations teams, as well as Nidec customers. Candidates should be competent in designing, testing and or applying servo motors and servo-motor drives.

  • Lead engineering projects related to the development of new servo motor products
  • Assist with the development of overall technology strategy for servo motor platform
  • Standardize servo motor test processes and procedures, including automation of testing
  • Develop and implement standard test methods for major servo-motor components
  • Complete projects following a phase-gate project management process
  • Interface regularly with internal and customer engineers, manufacturing, sales/marketing, and quality

Additional Job Details

  • B.S in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years work experience, preferably in electric motor and motor control industry
  • Proficient in design, specification and operation of servo motors, servo motor drives and encoders
  • Leadership skills and ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills and team orientation
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to travel about 6 times a year
