The IP Conflicts Specialist conducts searches of the firm's IPT docketing database and generates nightly emails to all IPT Practitioners to mitigate any conflicts of interest within the IPT practice. The Specialist processes intake forms to provide Docketing information about new prosecution matters. This position reports to the Manager, National Annuities and Docketing.

We offer a hybrid working policy which requires being in the office on an as needed basis. It is expected that this position may work remotely, unless requested to come into the office by their supervisor. This is a non-exempt position and eligible for overtime pay when appropriate. Overtime and flexibility in schedule may be required from time to time.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct searches of the firm's IPT docketing database to identify docketed trademarks that may be similar to any trademark that is the subject of the new matter and to identify prior firm experience with any relevant application or registration number appearing in the IP Intake Form.
  • Generate reports in order to clear parties of possible conflicts and forward the reports to appropriate partners or handling attorneys for review.
  • Generate email nightly to all IPT Practitioners firm-wide with a description of the technology and other data which will help determine if there are any conflicts of interest within the IPT practice.
  • Process intake forms in order to provide Docketing access information about new prosecution matters, to facilitate identification of potential conflicts, and to record compliance with certain firm and IPT procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is required, but college degree preferred.
  • Two plus years professional office experience.
  • Employee will be given general direction from the National Annuities Administrator, but is expected to perform duties and responsibilities independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Inprotech and Saegis to search trademark and trademark design conflicts.
  • Ability to distinguish between various types of IP documents.
  • No license or certification required for the position.
